Re: Looking for success stories on Residential and Commercial Recycling

I wanted to ask specifically if there is any one on the listserve familiar with the Fast tills for Greens in Scotland, where if you brought a reusable bag you get to go through the fast lane. Would love to know more about this, as I love the use of motivators.
thanks!

I posted something earlier this year regarding leads on success stories for the book that I am coauthoring with Doug, Wesley Schultz and Philip Koter: Social Marketing to Protect the Environment: WHAT WORKS.
I am currently looking for succesful recyling efforts, both residential and commercial. I would appreciate any leads, especially ones outside North America.
Warm regards,

Success Stories for New Book: McKenzie-Mohr, Lee, Schultz, Kotler
2010-01-15 16:39:06 UTC
For a new book anticipated to be published this year (WHAT WORKS: Social Marketing Strategies to Protect the Environment: Doug McKenzie-Mohr, Nancy Lee, Wes Schultz, Philip Kotler), we are looking for social marketing success stories from around the world related to a variety of environmental-related issues.
To start, I am working on a chapter on Water Quality Protection and am looking for success stories in the categories of: Pet Waste, Stormwater Runoff, and YardCare. We want to highlight examples that include clear behaviors, audience research on barriers and motivators, use of a variety of tools designed to address barriers and highlight benefits, evalution/outcomes and whenever and wherever possible, Return on Investment.
Happy New Year to all!

Carbon Footprint Label
2008-03-04 19:28:58 UTC
Norm,
I especially like your comment on full cost accounting. Here's what I'm wanting and dreaming about. I see a day when we go shopping . . . and just like we look for food label/nutrition content today to help us choose between two different loaves of bread . . . we have a little footprint label on packages. Inside the graphic footprint, there is a number that tells us how many "carbons" were emitted to get it to us. We could start small with transportation carbons and eventually report on production carbons as well. I live in Washington State. I can picture the footprint on a banana might have a "10" versus a "1" for a Washington State apple.
