Making Something Out of Nothing
2008-06-23 19:43:20 UTC
HI All,
A friend of mine was watching an episode of Extreme Home Makeover a while back and it showed a kid who actually created his own solar energy with the use of old soda cans and other things. Do you know of any places a person can go to find blue prints or tutorials on doing such things?
Thanks,
Miriam

Ways to Get Buy-in Outside Green Team
2008-02-23 16:41:54 UTC
Hi All,
I am working with a green team in an organization and helping them develop their sustainability strategic plan. The team is developing their sustainability vision, goals and initial action plan. I believe it is extremely important for the success of the program to involve all employees in the company (including senior level management) and get their 'buy-in' or involvement. Has anyone developed an effective strategy/program to get buy-in from employees and management outside a green team? I am looking for specific strategies and ideas to engage members in a sustainability program so that they all feel connected and part of the entire process. Thank you for the assistance!
Cheers,
Miriam

Hi Jeremy,
Look at The Natural Step website: http://www.naturalstep.ca/funnel.html The funnel is a superb diagram for getting people to understand sustainability.

Recycling Training Programs
2008-01-17 02:51:56 UTC
Hello,
I am going to be helping UC Berkeley do a recycling training for their on campus housing staff (including custodians, administrators, maintenance people, etc.). Do you know of any good resources for designing a training program to influence behavior around recycling? Are there any good resources that help people understand what can and cannot be recycled? I really appreciate the assistance.
Thanks,
Miriam

Re: Graduate programs in sustainability
2007-06-23 19:21:40 UTC
Hi Mickey,
I went to a fabulous program in Sweden called "Strategic Leadership Towards Sustainability". It was mainly taught by Karl Henrik Robert, the founder of The Natural Step Framework. They also gathered an amazing array of international professors. The program was innovative, progressive, life changing and very educational. You can learn more here: http://www.bth.se/tmslm You can also look at my blog from my thesis to get an idea of how we applied our learning: http://www.partnerships4SSD.blogspot.com I am open to answering any questions you may have. Cheers, Miriam P.S. These are other programs to check out too: Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI) which offers an MBA in Sustainable Business http://www.bgiedu.org/ Presidio School of Management which offers an MBA in Sustainable Management http://www.presidiomba.org/ The GreenMBA which offers an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise http://newcollege.edu/mba/ http://www.greenmba.com/
