I'm looking for suggestions from the list as to a suitable textbook for a fourth-year undergraduate course in sustainable development, to be offered through a geography department with an emphasis on systems thinking. Any leads would be appreciated, along with a brief note about why the book(s) may be useful. Thanks in advance!

Glen:
First things first, as the listserv moderator, I want to encourage posts directly related to fostering sustainable behavior which this isn't. However, since you posted this question, I'd suggest that you look at Ariadne's Thread by Mary Clark (published by St. Martin's press). The book is dated at this point (published in 1989) but is one of the best broad based overviews that I have come across as how we got into this mess and, as the title suggests, what we need to do to get out of it. The book grew out of an transdisciplinary course that Mary taught at San Diego State (I think) on SD. Hope you find it useful.
