Sarah Weller has asked that I post the following question for her: Can anyone send me examples of CBSM being used in campaigns to reduce littering?
Best,

The Butt Littering Trust www.buttlitteringtrust.org has many great examples. We will soon be posting the report on the Butt Free City 2006 campaign, where we introduced a pledge concept for smokers to "Butt It and then Bin It".

Sarah,
Here in Washington State, we have a CBSM campaign to reduce litter that has been around since 2002, "litter and it will hurt." I'm not sure exactly what information you are interested in, so I will forward you some general info, then you can email me your specific questions. On our litter webpage, please review all the pages associated with the "litter and it will hurt" campaign - you can see all our media if you click on the "media" button on the left: http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/swfa/litter/campaign.html
You may want to visit our main litter page as well - be sure to watch our "secure your load video": http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/swfa/litter/
You can also view our campaign plan from 2002 - it is a rather large document to download due to the graphics, so if you prefer a paper copy, please send me your mailing address. We spent the first half of this year conducting a thorough evaluation of our efforts to date. That evaluation will be incorporated into an updated campaign plan for the next 3-years. The new plan should be available later this fall. http://www.ecy.wa.gov/biblio/0107043.html
Hope that helps!
