This may be a little petty, but I'm wondering if anyone has information about how much energy is utilized by the lazy old elevator? I work in a tall city building and it drives me nuts how much people choose the elevator over the stairs (even for one flight!). I would like to get some energy figures and create a contest/challenge amongst employees. Any knowledge or ideas here?

Mary,
Did anyone ever get back to you? I'm trying to do the same as you, gather information and create a contest/challenge. Any feedback you or others have would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Traditional, non-social marketing oriented appeals tend to focus on health benefits and adopt a patronizing tone. Once I saw in a building an appeal to the time-saving enabled by stairs - the person in charge told me it increased the use of stairs by a sizable percentage. Anyway, it depends on what resonates best with your public(s).
