Hi All,
I am charged with educating our office staff on being sustainable around the office! Reduce paper waste, purchase "green" disposable products (cups, napkins, plastic utensils, etc... -- though I know that's not truly green, it's the best some people will do). Does anybody have a ready-made check list, easy to read resources for the "average" person, energy use, water use? Also, I'm looking for a good vendor for the disposable products - any made with corn that are produced in the midwest. I hate increasing the transportation need for these products, so the closer to home the better. I'm in Wisconsin.
thanks!
Gail

Hi Gail,
Have a look at our web site: http://www.sustainability.vic.gov.au/www/html/1415-sustainable-office.asp
We have an Environmental Management System in place and recently received ISO 14000 accreditation. We have significantly reduced electricity consumption, water consumption and paper use, our waste production is lower and the percentage of waste recycled is higher than was the case 12 months ago. Good luck with your program.
Cheers
John

I have a very good PowerPoint presentation on what one can do to create a Green Office put together by a friend, Hershie Soni, who works for the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston. I'm happy to send it anyone who writes to me requesting it.
