Hi,
There is Canadian school travel information to be found at the Canadian Active & Safe Routes to School Partnership website at http://www.saferoutestoschool.ca/partnership/ as well as at http://www.saferoutestoschool.ca/schooltravel.asp.

The UK has stacks & stacks of examples as it is a requirement for schools to undertake an STP and there is government funding for each local authority to employ a school travel advisor.
Look up 'Smarter Choices' on the Department for Transport website - http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/sustainable/schooltravel/localauthorities/schooltravelstrategiesandpla5746
and also get in contact with Transport for London's school travel planning team

Hi Charlotte
For other NZ examples, I see Waitakere have already responded, I would contact Tim Antric at the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) on 006493794422 as he is the team leader for travel planning in the Auckland Region - also see their website www.arta.govt.nz. I have also prepared a school travel plan for a couple of schools in Auckland or can get give you a contact for some in Hampshire in the UK?

Waitakere City, Auckland, New Zealand has been doing some work on school travel plans. Check out the 2 weblinks http://www.waitakere.govt.nz/abtcit/cp/travelplans.asp#plansinwaitakere and http://www.travelwise.org.nz/
Hopefully you will find some case studies or ideas that may assist.

Hi Charlotte.
The British Columbia Government funded the development of an online "hub" for resources on to and from school transportation emissions. It includes a GHG, fuel cost and calories (walking and biking) calculator and reduction planner. It also has the facility to post individual student results into a database for roll up at a classroom, school, school district and province level. Launched in October 2009 and getting lots of use by teachers, school districts, and by municipal governments in their TDM planning. The site and tools were designed to be easily customized and replicated for other jurisdictions.
