Does anyone have data on how the cost of solar panels is actually working out in comparison to other forms of energy? I read recently that the price of natural gas has been depressed so the payoff of installing solar panels is taking longer. What is the situation in your part of the country?

I went to solar hot water heating last month, was using electricity. I have no commercial interest in solar systems.

Hi Joette,
I am no expert in energy costs, etcetera, but someone very close to me is. Natural gas certainly is cheap, and it seems odd to me that it has continued to be cheap for so long as the prices for oil and coal have gone up. But on the other hand, all of these fuel prices are cyclical, and subject to many factors, such as cartel pricing, unrest in countries, etcetera. One thing is for sure, the cost of solar energy as a fuel remains constant at $0. :)
