I am working to encourage public water systems to volunteer to develop a Source Water Protection Plan. The goal of the program is to proactively identify sources of pollution and take action to prevent contamination of the sources of drinking water. Could anyone recommend information, case studies or other people, that would be able to help guide me to develop sucessful strategies to get a commitment from public water systems to develop and implement these plans? Thank you.

Hi, I worked for the Water Corporation in Perth, Australia before I went on maternity leave. The Water Corporation is a public utility company that encourages its user to reduce water usage rather then increase water prices. WC developed quite extensive strategies to preserve water sources and protect it's existing water supply. Check WC's web page: water corporation.com.au for educational strategies and http://www.watercorporation.com.au/P/publications_diversity.cfm for "water forever" plan. Good luck.
