Hello! I am looking to gain a better understanding of the barriers participants face when considering engaging with a Curbside Organics Collection Program and how best to assist them in overcoming those barriers, as well as what benefits are most motivating. Any case studies or research about Curbside Organic Programs would be very helpful.
Thank you!

Hi Kaitlin,
Here in New South Wales, Australia, kerbside organics collections are being rolled out in many local government areas. This federal government document gives a good overview of experiences so far and methods for overcoming common barriers: http://www.environment.gov.au/system/files/resources/8b73aa44-aebc-4d68-b8c9-c848358958c6/files/collection-manual.pdf
I have also attached the final report from the results of a one year trial here at Kiama Council. This trial was successful, and we are now in the process of rolling the service out to the rest of our urban areas. Please note: the service has been renamed since the trial due to trademark issues. It is now called OK Organics Kiama.
I would be happy to discuss with you any specific issues you are interested in and share what we have learned so far.
Kind regards,
