Used the New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) Scale of R. E. Dunlap and K. D. Van Liere (1978) to measure environmental worldview based on statewide telephone surveys of Kentucky in 1984 and 1988. 441 adults were interviewed for the 1984 survey and 653 adults for the 1988 survey. The level of environmentalist worldview for the entire state population increased between 1984 and 1988. The only group for which the increase in environmentalist worldview was statistically significant for this interval lived in a county that had water restrictions in 1988.
