Environmental Attitude and Environmental Knowledge

Arbuthnot, J. (1974). Environmental knowledge and recycling behavior as a fuction of attitudes and personality characteristics. Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, 1, 1, 119-121.
Used telephone survey data from 680 Kentucky residents to examine how environmental knowledge and attitudes were related to sociodemographic factors (gender, age, education, income, and residence). Results support a direct relationship between environmental knowledge and attitude. The generally low level of environmental knowledge and the limitations in the measures of knowledge used in the study are suggested as possible explanations for the lack of strength in an environmental knowledge-attitude association.
