An International Comparison of Response to Air Pollution

Kromm, D. E., Probald, F. & Wall, G. (1973). An international comparison of response to air pollution. Journal of Environmental Management, 1, 363-375.

Natural hazard research procedures are adapted and applied to atmospheric pollution. Investigations undertaken in Britain, Hungary and Yugoslavia are reported and the value of international comparative studies of environmental problems is demonstrated. Future attempts to establish and compare attitudes and strategies towards the same problem in different social, economic and cultural contexts should be designed to enable the researcher to apply all questions or tests in all of the study sites in the same form. This is a difficult methodological problem.
