From Knowledge to Action? Exploring the Relationships between Environmental Experiences, Learning, and Behavior

Finger, M. From knowledge to action? Exploring the relationships between environmental experiences, learning, and behavior. Vol. 50. 1994. 141-160.

Explored the relationships between environmental experience, learning, and behavior with a life-world approach. 1,004 Swiss Ss participated in the study. Regression analyses were performed on Ss' degree of involvement in 3 forms of environmental behavior (standard environmental behavior, limited activism, and protest behavior). Results suggest that environmental behavior can be attributed to environmental experiences, particularly nature experiences and environmental catastrophe experiences. This is consistent with the life-world approach. Environmental information and knowledge acquisition appeared to have little influence on environmental behavior.
