Do As I Say, Not As I Do

Lloyd, K. E. (1994). Do as I say, not as I do. Special Section: Attitudes and behavior in social psychology. Behavior Analyst, 17, 1, 131-139.

Examines how well responses to attitude questionnaires reflect actual behavior in situations the test questions attempt to represent. It is suggested that because a low positive correlation exists between attitude and behavior, the idea that a change of attitude must occur before a change of behavior should be reevaluated. A more empirical approach to "say^do" research is therefore advocated.
