International Public Opinion on the Environment

Bloom, D. E. (1995). International public opinion on the environment. Science, 269, 5222, 354-358.

Analyzes public opinion data on environmental issues collected in 2 surveys: (1) the 1992 Gallup survey, "The health of the planet," and (2) the "Public and leadership attitudes to the environment in 4 continents" (L. Harris et al, 1988-1989). International public opinion on the environment does not reveal much evidence of major impediments to addressing environmental problems. People in both developing and developed countries perceived environmental conditions as continuing to worsen, expressed concern about the environmental quality, and revealed a willingness to accept responsibility for this situation.
