Are you tired of seeing line after line of useless HTML in postings to this forum? If you use Outlook 2003, here's how to get rid of it the next time you post something. If you use Outlook 2003, here's how to strip HTML out of your posting. Other versions of Outlook probably operate in similar fashion. To find out how it works in other versions of Outlook or any other e-mail program, try searching for < plain text html > in the application's Help system.
ON A MESSAGE-BY-MESSAGE BASIS
Create a new message. In one of the rows of menu shortcut icons you should see a dialog box that says HTML. Click the down arrow to its right and select Plain Text. You will see a message asking you to confirm the change; click Continue. The change to Plain Text will apply only to the message you are composing.
FOR ALL MESSAGES YOU SEND
When you first open Outlook 2003 and BEFORE you start to compose a message, click on TOOLS. Next, click Options and then click the Mail Format tab. Click the arrow next to the Compose in this message format box and then click Plain Text.
