I need to know if anyone (college, university, governmental unit, business) has implemented duplex printing system wide. We are having software issues with this, and our CIO wants a model or two of how it can be done.
Duplex Printing

Hi Gary,
At Sustainability Victoria our system is set to provide duplex printing across the organisation as the default setting. Single sided printing can be used if required for a some reason but has to be specifically selected. We have also implemented a system whereby a document sent to the printer does not print unless the sender goes to the printer and selects it on a touch screen. This has dramatically reduced the number of "orphan" prints that used to result when people sent items to the printer and then for one reason or another did not collect them or forgot they had sent them and printed them a second or third time. For staff who need to print something for internal reasons (meeting agendas or for checking a draft, etc.) one of the printers has a drawer that is filled with one sided paper (i.e. the other side has already been used for another document). This also saves new paper. Overall our paper consumption per person has fallen by half over the past 2 years and we believe we can still make further savings.
Regards
John Osborne
