Has anyone had actual experience with Plasma-arc technology for waste disposal/landfill remediation? I've read a number of articles, and found both pro-and con on Plasma technology projects. The promoters claim the process is an environmentally friendly way to break municipal & industrial solid waste down to their elemental components. The gaseous output can be refined into fuel products, the ash & compressed gas can be used to manufacture bricks. Another claim is that the process can produce more electricity than the system uses Detractors reply that there aren't enough operational plasma projects running at the municipal level, to support any claims. Supposedly there are a few small projects in Japan and Europe, but not enough data exists to judge the efficiency of the process. Others claim that the processes uses so much electricity, and when added to transportation and logistics costs, the ROI doesn't justify the investment and operational expense. Anyone have actual experience with Plasma Technology?
