Trying to Mobilize Community to Take Pride in Creek

I'm trying to clean up a very urban section of a creek (a Hudson River tributary) and encourage residents to take pride in this valuable resource for the community. Data has already been collected through a rapid trash assesment at various points along the creek. Where do I go from here? What's the most effective approach to promote awareness and reduce littering behavior?
