I am researching dog waste and how it affects our environment not only on contaminating watersheds, but the health of pets and people as well. Looking for more specific research in terms of proper disposal techniques (pros and cons of bagging it and sending to the lanfill...or burying it...or the 'do-nothing' crowd).

Any research on pet waste in regards to what the effects are if on the ground for short periods of time (1-day) versus longer periods of time (1-week) before being picked up and disposed of?

Also, researching how climate influences dog waste. In other words, dry regions like Arizona versus places where it rains every day like Florida versus Northern states with winters...are some climates more prone to contamination of pet waste and the waterways versus others?
