I am researching the use of liquid pool covers the pros and cons of it's use and the if it is effective in energy savings. The cost and maintenance may outweigh its use and a pool cover may be more effective. Please share your experiences with its use in outdoor and indoor pools.

Liquid Solar Pool Covers defined, for the average person, is simply a chemical added to your pool's water that floats on the surface, creating a barrier that helps to slow down evaporation. Evaporative loss accounts for about 70% of heat loss, so, by slowing this down, you will keep the water in your pool warmer for a longer period of time. You will not smell, see, feel or taste the product once it has been added to your pool water, but you should probably not drink the liquid out of the bottle.

Although it can be used even if there are swimmers in the pool, because of the chemicals, it is best to use it without the kids or pets running around the pool. It will prevent evaporation effectively for 24 hours and doesn't affect the water chemistry but I still prefer the use of pool covers.
