I am interested in energy efficiency in an office environment and have seen the website of Pythagoras Solar. They claim they do windows and skylights that are transparent to light, but not to heat, generate PV electricity, and filter direct sunlight. A solution like that could be used in skylights in office buildings in a place like Colorado, blessed with a lot of sunshine. This would reduce electricity consumption for lighting, while improving working conditions and employee morale and loyalty. However, I am wondering if the energy that would save in terms of lighting wouldn't be offset by a higher rate of heat transmission through the skylights (as compared to a typical roof). Anyone has any comment? Thanks!
