I am working as a watershed coordinator for a 52, 000 acre agricultural watershed in SE Minnesota. The Partnership involves primarily ag. producers and local resource agency personnel taking a comprehensive approach to maintaining a rural community while enhancing the natural resource base. This area is near the Twin Cities metro area so is also experiencing the effects of urban sprawl. In addition, I am working on my own time with the small community of Lake City, Minnesota. This town of 4500 people has just this week accepted a concept plan from a developer that will double the population of the community over the next ten years. There are a substantial number of residents that would like to see more sustainable ideas incorporated into this proposal.
