Hello!I am a maters student at UBC in the School of Community and Regional Planning. I have a strong interest in how to change human behaviour in order to bring about the transition to a more equitable and ecologically sound path of human development. I am currently doing a directed study focussed on communication on the benefits of reduced worktime (in terms of social, economic, and community benefits) to individuals for whom a reduced worktime schedule is an option (i.e. the 4 day workweek). I intend to combine research into the principles and tools of social marketing with research on the microeconomics of work-related expenditures (meals out, child care, transit, etc.), in the interest of producing a concise, but compelling and infomative pamphelt entitled: Can I afford to work less? And so, I bought your book and am going to use the insights gained and steps outlined to help me with this task.I know that what I am describing is a bit of a stretch from some of the examples given in the book (especially in terms of a much broader and harder to define constiuency group, and the fact that consumerist values and our society's addicitons to work and busyness are pretty well entrenched) but I figure it will be an exercise in learning, and so am keen to explore your internet site.
