As a Public Health Nurse, I am working on a strategy to reduce the incidence of falls in seniors. Falls are the leading cause of injury and the 6th leading cause of death in people over the age of 65. This is a multifactorial problem, involving both "internal" and "external" factors. A large component of the strategy will be advocating for safer (i.e. fall proof) communities, as well as addressing the issue of ageism and the stereotypical behaviour which is a result of that ageism.
