Marketing Specialist mandated to determine & establsih baseline on ATSDR's effectiveness and customer satisfaction and develop marketing plan/strategies to bring about established goals. My agency is a government agency established to prevent exposure and adverse human health effects associated with exposure to toxic substances in the enviornment. My work is on two levels: (a) Identity/Branding - determining value position and direct activities to foster agency's credibility in the field of enviormental health, and (b) Social Marketing - transitioning the agency into the world of target marketing and listening to the voice of the customer. Struggling with little or no funds for research or staff, no strategic plan to guide efforts, no clear or ever changing priorities and an agency belief that marketing is "advertising - so go make pretty brochures & videos "for everyone." Looking for ways to educate senior leadership and elevate marketing to a business case function within the decision making process of the agency.
