I am a staunch environmentalist working at a major university center for the passed 10 years. I have managed to add to my scope of responsibilites in the passed year "Buy Recycled Liaision" for all campus purchases. As a state agency we are committed by law to purchase products with recycled content. This does not often happen although I am making some headway with a buy recycled paper initiative. Needless to say it is not easy to buy recycled or make sustainable purchases when you are dealing with an unsupportive administration and an apathetic student body, but the small gains I've made are better than nothing. The premium paid on recyced products is my biggest hurtle to surmount.
