The City of Darebin is bounded to the east by the Darebin Creek and to the west by the Merri Creek. Edwardes Lake is fed by Edgars Creek, which runs into the Merri Creek near the site of the old Pentridge Prison. These creeks provide wildlife habitat and corridors that allow (species) to move safely within the municipality. The creeks also provide valuable shared trails and access to some of Darebin’s "hidden secrets".As part of the commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment, Darebin Parks provides a number of Community Planting Days and "Walks and Talks" to the general public and schools. If you wish to find out more about these planting days or wish to arrange a talk, please click on Special Events or contact the Bushland Crew on 9480 4921.
