I manage the Visitor Programs department here at the Monterey Bay Aquarium; in other words, public education (i.e."the shows").We focus on marine conservation; I am most intersted in ways that the experiences and programs I provide with my staff can actually effect behavior change. You may be familiar with our 'Seafood Watch" consumer wallet cards--they are a quick guide to chosing respoinsibly harvested seafood; they are the best example we've got going right now, and I want to explore how we can expand that sucess story into many more!I just finished reading "Fostering Sustainable Behavior"-terrific book! I'm preparing to teach a class in February fot the AZA (American Zoo and Aquarium) professional development school entitled " Conservation Education". I plan on bringing an entire box of your books for the 32 students and make them available for purchase!I have yeat to enter the site; if I see something on it that would help me make a particular point, do I have your blessing to use it (I would of course give appropriate credit!)Finally, my boss and some collegues will be attending a workshop at the SF Zoo in January that I believe you are speaking at. Hope your enjoy your trip to SF! If you ever find yourself in Monterey on business or pleasure, don't hesitate to look me up--I'd be glad to show you and your family around the aquarium.Regards,Mike ChamberlainMonterey bay Aquarium831.647.4528[email protected]
