The Georgia Strait works to protect and restore the marine environment and promote the sustainability of Georgia Strait, its adjoining waters and communities.Our goals are to protect biodiversity and wildlife habitat; restore the region's water and air quality promote the social, cultural, economic and environmental sustainability of the region's communities; foster understanding and stewardship of the marine environment, and; raise awareness of the links between the health of ecosystems and human communities. Our program areas include: Marine Protected Areas; Salmon Aquaculture; Clean Air and Water (ToxicSmart household visits, pesticide-reduction, pulp mill pollution prevention, energy conservation, etc.); Green Boating; Intertidal Stewardship and Quadrat Studies.
