I work as an Environment Officer for Maribyrnong City Council. A part of my work is environmental education programmes, currently focussed around waste and recycling but I am also involved in promoting the Cool Communities initiative which recruits families and encourages behaviour change towards a more sustainable model. I am also responsible for development and implementation of Council policy and strategy relating to the environment, for example the Urban Stormwater Management Plan, Litter Prevention Strategy, Environment Strategy, Waste Management Strategy and Waste and Litter Education Strategy. It is likely that the number of these documents will increase over time as Council gets more into the idea of sustainability.
