I have a short-term contract with Greening Australia (WA) based in Fremantle, Western Australia. The postition is Training Coordinator for the Skills for Nature Conservation Program, in particular a pilot program to provide workshops for natural area management professionals. This year we have run three courses, "Working with Contractors", "Valuing Volunteers and Working with Community Groups" and "Working with Nature- Bush Restoration". Prior to this contract and perhaps when it ends I will be lecturing at TAFE, our tertiary vocational training institution, particularly in the areas of Conservation and Land management and in Environmental Science. I am very interested in marine reserves--how to convert the fishing lobby. And I am very interested in sustainable lifestyles, e.g. alternatives to one person-one car transport, alternatives to the 5-acre block and semi--rural sprawl, use of solar energy and collection of rainwater, reduction in tree removal in inner city areas, and lots of other environmental issues. I look forward to your workshop.
