I am a Utility Specialist, heading a team which advises the Iowa Utilities Board (Board) on matters pertaining to energy efficiency programs designed and administered by utilities in Iowa. The Board has approved an energy efficiency plan for Alliant Energy in Iowa which includes Community Action Projects, intended to capture a high level of participation in target communities.Other programs underway involve utilities in very intense interactions with vendors, construction contractors, industrial customers, low-income weatherization and other substantial interventions in customers' investments and energy use behavior. We have accumulated some data over the past 12 years on the results of utility programs, including inadvertent experiments by utilities which show the impacts of varying promotional expenditures. We also two sets of survey results on customer attitudes and perceptions about energy and utilities. One of these surveys might be available electronically.I am interested in attending the workshop Dr. McKenzie-Mohr will be conducting on October 2, 2003 in Des Moines.
