My efforts to protect the night environment by stopping light pollution, bump into conceptions that all a property needs for security is outdoor lights (blasting all over - the brighter the better). Some people expressed surprise when crime hits the store they left brightly lit overnight, but figure it would be worse if it was dark. Lights might just help criminals work faster.
