Our organization works with Island farmers to help them implement sustainable agricultural practices. Most recently we have started a pilot where groups of farmers create a Club to work together to implement Action Plan Items from their Environmental Farm Plan. Each Club hires a Coordinator to work one-on-one with producers and also as a group. They develop a trusting and workable relationship together. We have two Clubs right now and are developing a discussion paper to present to potential funding partners in expanding the pilot. Any advice or opinion you may have and that we could use in this discussion paper of how Clubs could help foster sustainable behavior would be appreciated. We are wanting to build a strong case of why public funds should be made available. I have a copy of your book and the report prepared in June 2003 for the PEI potato Board. I see some evidence or ties in these publications to the Club application.Other activities our organization is/has been involved in includes soil conservation, fencing livestock from watercourses, manure management, and demonstrating BMPs that reduce or remove greenhouse gases.
