Re: looking for devices that make recycling bins talk

Check out http://www.thefuntheory.com/ - it's actually a VW project employing all kinds of innovative experiments to enact behavior change. Check out "The World's Deepest Bin" in particular, which sounds the most like what you're looking for.

Re: Pet Waste Outreach Campaigns

Hi, Jill -
I've been working on a program in Clark County called Canines for Clean Water (www.CleanWaterDogs.com), and while it's been successful from an outreach standpoint we have yet to prove any significant difference in actual pet waste picked up. The same goes for most of the campaigns I came across while doing research for this program. The only one I came across which posted concrete results was this one in England: http://www.keepbritaintidy.org/Campaigns/pastcampaigns/dogfouling/Default.aspx.
My hunch is that American campaigns like to maintain the sense of urgency in order to motivate people, rather than letting them think the problem's been fixed. If you get in touch with anyone with results to share, please let me know - we're still trying to figure out the best way to evaluate the results of our program!

Fireworks and Water Pollution
2009-02-20 16:01:02 UTC
Hello -
I'm going to be working on a campaign for this summer linking fireworks and water pollution. Does anyone know of any resources or studies of this topic, or what the preferred behavior change might be? Obviously, this is the very beginning of my research for this topic, so any suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks, all!
