Re: Sexiest Reason to Recycle?

Good question Nathan! I am always working to make composting and recycling sexier on our campus.. Do you have a source for your fact that I could reference?
Aaron - I haven't heard of those commercials. Is there a website or online resource? I'd like to check them out.
Thanks!

Re: Effective Models for Composting Stations at University Dining Hall

Hi Honore,
At the University of Winnipeg we have a four box system - garbage is black or grey, recycling is blue, and composting in brown. All of the bins are rectangular is shape, and the compost bin has a turning lid flap.
I don't know if the colours or shapes of the bins have affected the success of our system. We have found that advertising the program, educating students, staff, and campus visitors, having signage directly above the compost station areas, and having the garbage, recycling, and composting bins side by side to have made the largest difference in terms of decreasing the amount of contaminated compost bins.
Good luck with your compost program!
