Re: GHG Reduction through Behavior Change

Hi Vithu, I focus on commercial buildings so I know what you mean (there are fewer workplace behavioral programs). But here are some of my favorites.

Hi Doug, I see you landed at the Presidio in San Francisco. Good spot. Can I help in anyway and in return a free registration (the advanced course)? Thanks for considering. Chris

Re: Looking for Plug Load Programs

I'm glad you're looking at plug loads. Here are some papers/studies of plug loads at a small office and another at a library. Look forward to hearing your results. We're doing some work on plug loads at West Village (student housing) in Davis California.

Re: Educational Assignment for Engineering Students - Behavior & Energy
2012-01-19 12:03:14 UTC
Hi Eric, will their classroom or homes (where will interverntion take place?) have the ability to measure energy consumption pre and post -intervention? A simple behavior like programming their computers to sleep mode or power management might be easy and manageable for your length of time. Or a lighting program or lower thermostat/heating. The key thing will be to measure the effort, ideally with real time utility info. Keep me posted! Chris

Re: LEED Behavioural Change Impacts in Energy Savings
2010-06-10 11:47:05 UTC
Jacquie, I've thought about this a lot. There is research out there but it's more narrowly oriented, such as the savings when a single education (community based social marketing...cbsm) program is implemented, such as emails asking employees to shut off lights when they leave for lunch. A dashboard was used to measure change in occupant behavior. Energy models are another matter as you know. Maybe the approach with energy models is the modeler's assumptions about occupant behavior. I wonder if enough research has been conducted on cbsm of occupants and then measuring the results of those interventions to offer how models should be revised. And maybe you ran into that when only 1 person responded to your survey. Attached is a Phd on energy modeling I found interesting. Let me know what you think. Chris
