Our mission is to promote community health by protecting our environment and natural resources in southwestern New Mexico. We are an environmental advocacy group that serves as a watchdog to ensure that copper mining in our area is conducted in an environmentally responsible manner. We work with other conservation groups to protect the Gila River, New Mexico's last free-flowing river, from a large water development project. We are very involved in education and promotion of alternatives to reduce our carbon footprint such as energy efficiency, renewables, relocalization, etc. We are very interested in your research re: how to persuade individuals to make consumer and lifestyle choices that are more energy efficient and minimize one's carbon foot print. We're also interested in how to motivate young people to get involved and engaged in the environmental movement.
