John,
I would begin by contacting both the Green Schools Initiative and the Healthy Schools Campaign. Hope this helps!

Re: seeking ideas for sponsorships for beach cleanups
2007-02-08 11:11:16 UTC
I would suggest contacting AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) to place this on the educators list serve for ideas (or even to put out feelers for a U.S. zoo or aquarium that may be interested in sponsoring). PAAZAB is the African Association of Zoos & Aquaria--they may also have some suggestions. Corporate sponsorships from international companies that have any dealings in Ghana would be worth pursuing. Kofi Annan is Ghana's most well known citizen; I would ask to place him on an advisory board, or simply ask for help and guidance in manuevering through the system of funding from the United Nations Environment Program. Good luck! Sounds like an exciting project.

Re: Vegas & graywater in fountains

Carol,
It's my understanding that the water is separated and then treated for use in water features. I know that the resorts work closely with Las Vegas Valley Water District engineers to make certain they follow all appropriate guidelines. You may want to contact them directly to learn more < http://www.lvvwd.com >

Re: Looking for research on watering restrictions
2005-12-23 01:59:49 UTC
The Las Vegas Valley Water District has developed watering restrictions: "Drought Alert Mandatory Watering Restrictions ..." www.lvvwd.com/ While watering restrictions have been in effect here, not much has been done to curb growth and development of new properties (including golf courses, etc.) that require more water and not much has been done to curb the politics of water rights with "grandfather clauses" and those of hotels/casinos (although, to their credit many are recycling and using "gray water" in public water features). The issue of state vs. individual rights is argued constantly as the state is looking to curtail water usage and homeowners are looking to plant grass instead of going with natural desert landscaping. It's generally agreed that this area will continue to require more and more water and plans seem to be underway to take it from other areas. In other words.....this area is a major problem on its way to becoming worse......
