Re: Research on Workshop Effectiveness
2009-11-13 09:35:38 UTC
Christina,
I'm not sure about any such resources in Canada, but here in the US one good source of this kind of information--both workshops and basic evaluation--is probably any state university's cooperative extension service. I work for extension in Wisconsin, and am part of our Sustainability Team, so you might want to take a look at our website http://www3.uwsuper.edu/sustainability/ and see if there is information there, or feel free to contact any of the team members. Another US resource would be the National Network for Sustainable Living Education. Viviane Simon-Brown is a good contact there. If you'd like to reach her, please let me know and I'll send you her contact information.
Good luck!

Re: Behaviour Change in Medical Students following Environmental Education

Frances,
Sounds like a great project. I'm collecting environmental attitude/behavior change ideas in relation to personal values for an online course, and will be happy to share what I find. But if you find something or if anyone else has ideas, I'd like to hear about them, too.

Re: Seeking Process/Tool for Reviewing Policies for Sustainability

Linda,
Following up on Ned's suggestion about The Natural Step, I do have some direct knowledge of it, and there are groups that use it extensively, one of which is in Oregon:
The Natural Step Network
SW 2nd Ave, Suite 302, Portland, OR 97204
Phone: + 1 503 241 1140
Fax: + 1 503 546 6825
Email: regina[at]ortns[dot]org
Website: www.thenaturalstep.org/usa
Executive Director: Regina Hauser
I only know of Regina by reputation, but some of my colleagues are more familiar with her and the group. You might also contact your state university Cooperative Extension office (I believe there is one in Corvallis) and see if anyone there has anything to offer. The only name I can suggest at Extension in Oregon would be Viviane Simon-Brown.
Good luck!

Re: Looking for Information on Recycling for Tradesman
2009-08-20 10:30:40 UTC
At a home improvement show about 15 months ago I met someone who works in construction materials recycling in the US Midwest. He might have some useful ideas, and seemed very open to sharing information. His name was Kevin Peterson, with Construction Debris Management in Prescott, Wisconsin (www.EcoSnakes.com is the website listed on his card, but that's erosion control products). If you're interested, I can see about getting more information from him (Prescott is about 15 miles from where I work).

Data on Values and Changing to Sustainable Living Habits
2009-07-02 11:00:35 UTC
I'm looking for any data or resources on how values relate to choices of living habits, and especially on sustainable living choices. This is for a basic resource intended to persuade people of the benefits of making more sustainable choices, but I want some statistics or other data to reinforce the narrative.
