GLOBE (Green Light on a Better Environment) has the following program that may be of interest to you called the Community Champion Program which educates and enables the residents themselves to become agents of change in their own communities. Community Champions and housing staff receive energy conservation training, focused on the importance of resident behaviour. Resources, such as presentations, posters, communication tools and an online forum help them promote conservation basics to their fellow social housing communities.
This is about investing in communities, said Colin Gage, Chair of GLOBE and Vice-Chair of SHSC. The Community Champion program gives residents an opportunity to learn and truly participate in the sustainability of their community. They get the tools and resources to be part of the solution.
We also provide train the trainer training on the Community Champion Program.
See our website www.globeservices.ca and see our free toolbox and a short video on our Community Champion Program. If you would like more information email me at [email protected]

Re: Fluorescent Light Recycling

GLOBE (Green Light on a Better Environment) located in Toronto has just completed a bulb exchange program for all social housing in Toronto, where we removed incandescent bulbs and replacement them with equivalent cfl bulbs.
Perhaps we can be of assistance.

Re: Energy Efficient Homes

Green Light on a Better Environment (GLOBE) has a training program called The Community Champion Program. This program is designed to train a resident community champion on how to engage other residents on how to change their habits around energy use in their homes. There are over 30 communities in the Toronto area participating in the program. We are in the process of repurposing our training materials into modules covering recycling, green office, water conservation among others.
Residents in the communities participating in the program have most definitely made changes in their behaviours once they were engaged and educated on why it is important to conserve. They also realize the benefits to the future of our planet and reduction in costs.

Re: Data on Values and Changing to Sustainable Living Habits

GLOBE has developed a program designed to change residents behaviour related to use of energy.
We have 21 communities participating in this program in the Toronto, Ontario and about to sign up another 25. Housing providers chose a community champion in their community to champion the cause of energy conservation and engage other residents in changing their habits. GLOBE provides training to the Community Champion and staff members on how to engage residents in changing their behaviour. The program has been very successful and has pulled communities together in a common cause.
Anyone interested in hearing more about our program can email me.
