2010-10-20 06:26:01 UTC
Looking for examples of effective water efficiency programs that ideally have been implemented in tourist and agricultural regions. What the programs entailed, the duration of such programs and their outcomes would be particularly helpful.

Many of the Victorian libraries seem to use this system so you may gain valuable information from them.

Hi Kim
Norm is correct and there should be no issues with access to the site.
You will however have to sign up to see the real benefits of the site which is only possible for Australian schools and workplaces at this stage. Households are offered over 60 different behavior options all linked to points and in an easy tick box format over the 8 week challenge.

Visit www.greenhousegames.com.au this an on-line challenge in Victoria being used through workplaces and schools but the same concept can be expanded through communities, would just need clear geographical boundaries.

Re: Success Stories for New Book: McKenzie-Mohr, Lee, Schultz, Kotler
2010-01-20 21:02:25 UTC
Dear Nancy
A success story for 2008 was the launch of a No Junk Mail campaign through the voluntary climate change group BCCAG Bayside Climate Change Action Group.
Analysis and research showed this area to be very high in junk mail and the research showed that if all homes in Bayside rejected junk mail for 1 year 2500 trees would be saved plus the energy savings and resources of printing.
Free stickers were provided in recycled boxes with an explanation of the impact to Bayside of rejecting junk mail with the option to donate money for the cost of the sticker.Copies of the junk mail was made available to the public through the library and key cafes.
The stickers were then distributed throughlocal retailers and community clubs and promoted through the scouting movement.
In one year over 30% of homes adopted the sticker and rejected junk mail plus enough money was raised from voluntary contributions to print more stickers.

Re: Social Marketing to Increase Physical Exercise

The Ride to Work program was succesful in engaging this age group with physical activity by encouraging competition between the tertiary organisations . Organsiations with the greatest participation were incentivised and rewarded. Results were strong and sustained year on year.

Market Value Overriding Social Value
2009-11-10 05:29:29 UTC
When a market incentive is introduced into behavior change, how effective is it versus social values and does market incentives over-ride social values.
My experience in the sustainable transport sector is that market incentives are not very sucessful but a recent project in the home energy audit sector suggests that market values are more important here. Has anyone experience or are there any studies on this?
