Hi Laura,
you can download the Bushcare Manual from the Australian Association of Bush Regenerators at www.aabr.org.au . Teh manual was developed by the Volunteer Coordinators Network (Natural Areas). You can also join that network through the AABT website.

Hi,
The NSW Environmental Trust has funded a project called Groundswell, which uses kitchen collected waste, composts it and uses the compost on farms. It has a good education component. find it at

Re: Urban Greening ... Urban Forestry

Hi again,
I should have mentioned that in addition to ecological plantings and regen we have been funding a growing number of urban food plantings, both in gardens and food trees as street trees.

Re: Urban Greening ... Urban Forestry

Greetings to you all.
You might find some good models from the Bushcare and Landcre movements in Australia. There are litrally thousands of groups, many of them urban which are involved in greening projects. Many of these are revegetation focussed, but in urban areas, there are many bush regeneration projects, using natural ecological resilience to restore bushland areas and then undertaking supplementary plantings in parks and streets to enhance the ecological outcomes. Programs and prjects are supported by NGOs, local state and Australian governments. A good web search using the terms bushcare and landcare will get you good info, but have a look at
www.aabr.org.au - Australian Association of Bush Regenerators. links to programs and hosting the Volunteer Coordinators Network.. good guidelines.
http://www.bushcare.org.au/ Kuringgai Bushcare... a good local council program
http://www.sydney.cma.nsw.gov.au/our-projects/sydney-community-bushcare-program.html - an overview of programs and projects in the Sydney region. http://www.greeningaustralia.org.au/ and http://www.landcareonline.com.au/ - good program info
Hope this helps... more than happy to provide anyone with more info

Re: CBSM and Sustainable Food / Food Security

Hi,
there are two sites that may help... http://www.lovefoodhatewaste.nsw.gov.au/ and http://foodwise.com.au/ . They don't get in to many of the deeper aspects of food sustainability such as ecosystem impact, fairness and the like, but are a good start.
