Thesis Project: What are the factors that influence individual- and community-level change in shoreline stewardship behaviour? Shoreline stewardship will be generally defined as the conscientious use and protection of the natural environment through conservation and sustainable practices, such as re-naturalization efforts, septic care, minimizing shoreline development, etc. I aim to determine a) the factors influence shoreline stewardship among cottage owners, b) needs, barriers, and opportunities as they relate to sustainable shoreline behaviours, and c) the role of outreach programs in increasing local shoreline stewardship. This is an independent study funded by the Canadian Wildlife Federation and their joint facilitation of the Love Your Lake program with Watersheds Canada.
