My assistant and I serve as staff liaisons to the James City Clean County Commission. Our Commission has several large events throughout the year (Earth/Arbor Day Plant-A-Tree, Will Barnes Day Volunteer Recognition Picnic, Repair Fair & Recycling Expo, etc.) as well as organizes multiple litter cleanup events (the Annual Countywide Litter Cleanup, Great American Cleanup, Clean the Bay Day, etc.). We also run the Adopt-A-Spot and Litter League (litter kit library program) programs. We are also the Energy Team for the County, leading the Facilities Energy Team and Interdepartmental Sustainability Team. We maintain the County’s energy database and explore innovative programs related to energy savings and renewable energy production. We do recycling education and are committee members of the askHRgreen.org Recycling and Beautification subcommittee. We are the outreach coordinators for all things General Services, such as HHW, leaf collection, recycling delays, etc. We do daily social media, news releases, website updates, flyers, etc. We touch on Stormwater issues, however there is the Stormwater and Resource Protection Division that does its own outreach, although we do coordinate often.
