Susan, I'm researching a similar topic to your posted question (Dec 28, 2022), specifically regarding organics hauling. I work for a county in Washington State and we've developed a community compost pilot program in partnership with our local hauler. This hauler doesn't have onboard scales in the truck and at this juncture are not open to investing in them. So we are manually weighing the food scrap carts at each pilot site just prior to collection. Manual weighing is cumbersome and expensive from a labor standpoint and certainly not a long term solution when we take the program to scale. Yet without the ability to gather valid, verifiable data, it's much harder to make a strong case for the program in confidence. I'd be interested in any key points of wisdom you gleaned from your outreach on this question.
