I am responsible for the engagement/communication for water meters installation to the NP District. NPDC water conservation programme to date has encouraged people, through education, to save water, this has taken the public only so far. The addition of water meters to all homes is about further driving behaviour change to reduce water consumption. The average New Plymouth District water user is 307 litres per person, per day. A lack of reliable and accurate data makes it hard to for not only council but residents to be efficient in their water use. Meters are the tool that doing the `heavy lifting' through providing data.
I am also supporting the engagement work (stakeholder workshop facilitation and public engagement) for the New Plymouth District Council Integrated Transport Plan. The plan responds to the changing transport needs across the NP District, including population growth and other modes of transport. It will also help guide investment for the next 30 years and identify projects undertaken over the next 10 years. Currently there is no overall plan for the districts transport network and prioritising project to be done and when is tricky. Central Government also has expectations for transport networks that needs to be realised(Climate resilience, VKT's and reducing emissions etc.)
