Doug,
Your website is truly a wonderful idea. Give people the tools to implement the program rather than expect everyone to develope the tools independently. Brilliant! I am a volunteer for an environmental organization, and before I got involved, I asked what literature they had available to support the work I would be doing. It seemed it would make no sense to promote something unless the proper support materials were available. I thought of my former alma mater, The School of Visual Arts, in Manhattan, as a resource for you to find a gifted graphic artist. Before I send off the letter, I wanted to be sure this outreach for a graphic artist would be acceptable to you.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Herschkorn
To whom it may concern; As an alumnus of the SVA MFA program 1990, I thought of the SVA Career Development office as a good resource to find a talented graphic artist to work on this project. I think it would be a rewarding opportunity that would be beneficial to many. Mr. McKenzie-Mohr is the originator of the website. His e-mail address is above, as well as contact info below.

Dear Doug et al.,
I think the idea of having these very concrete, immediately applicable resources available on the website is a great one. I also like the set of strategy document, graphics, and discussion forum. At the same time, I'd worry a little, regarding the graphics specifically, about reinventing the wheel. I know there are a lot of great graphics out there and I wonder if there's a value to assembling those, as well as having a more consistent, "branded" campaign available. I realize it would be more work! But if you do end up setting up specific categories (pet waste, etc.) it might be worth asking people to send in the graphics they are already using, if only because folks using the website will have different aesthetic preferences. I think, for example, of some great graphics from the Huron River Watershed Council.
